Question What Do the Numbers on the PCM Mean?

Hi all I am having issues with my 96 limited and after a lot of looking testing swearing I think it might be a PCM Issue OK So get another one and try it
I imagine one shoe does not fit all and later model PCMs wont work in a 96
We have been having this discussion over on ausjeepoffroad Anyone know what the numbers on the PCM mean?
I know they all are P56041.. But the BIG Number ?
Examples ...
96 Limited 252
99 Sport 494AE
A Fellow on the ausjeep forums has 2 96 both are 252 and a third that is a 190 something ??
Anyone Know I am trying to find a compatible PCM Thankz

What issues have you been having? I can't say that I've swapped out my 96 ecm with another but if the pin outs are the same I dont see why it wouldn't work.

I found your no start post. What code reader are you using? Do you have spark and injector pulse?

Most likely the numbers are for versions that apply to certain emissions standards.
I swapped a Mopar Performance ECU from a 94 Ram with 318 to a 95 Dodge full sized van, to a 98 Ram with the 360.
