I mean, I have a 65,000 mile 89 NP231 that I have just sitting around my house(shed in back yard) that I really don't need. Been trying to get rid of the thing for a while now, I don't want much for it either

Well see thats the thing, the owner before me rebuilt motor, transmission and transfer case some time back, considering all that has been done i really dont want to have to change my transfer case, but.... i may not have a choice, if so then ill let you know and we'll get something goin on it.

Dang, thats nice. I'm going to run my Jeep until the engine or transmission calls it quits, then both will be rebuilt at the same time and the motor is gonna get a 4.5/4.7 stroker kit. The transfer case is gonna get a rebuild when I do an SYE kit

Ok i just got off the phone with Rough Country... The guy told me that the main bracket for the lower control arms that bolts to the frame and transfer case isnt designed for a 242... ?.... i didnt realize there was a diffrent bolt pattern on 242's to 231's as far as mounting wise. Dont shoot the messenger here if that sounds retarded, im just repeating what RC told me. There is my first XJ build or having anything to do with Jeep period so im still learning on what is the same, what will interchange.. etc..

But wait a minute, i just looked at the underneath pictures of the XJ inwhich they have their LA kit under, looks to me the LA bracket itsself bolts mostly to the transmission and the other plate is just a skid for the transfer case... ?

The guy also said something about a plate by advance adapters that could be ordered to make the kit work with a 242?.. Looks to me just by eye the only diffrence between the 2 skids is the box part for the 242..

Looks to me everything bolts up the same, just the only diffrence is the skid, so if i did order the RC kit inwhich is for the 231, all id have to do is modify the skid plate right? Make a box like is on the JCR skid.. am i correct?
