Default what is it called

There is a piece of plastic located between the grille header panel and the grill insert. It's about 3/4" and runs along the top of the grille and fits between the headlamps. I'ts the ONLY part I am missing to finish my exterior and it's reay for paint. Can some one please identify this item.

I will post a pic once I get batteries for the camera

THANKS!!!!!!

You got the wrong grill type for your year. Some grills come with the upper part on them, others are made for the older jeeps where the trim piece is all one thing. You must have the 3 piece front. Is yours newer than 1990?

If you haven't already, Here is a site with PDF format Mopar - Chrysler OEM parts catalogs for your year XJ. These are handy because they show exploded views of every thing. Not just for the part numbers. http://www.xjjeeps.com/ It will also tell you the name of that part.

I'm fairly certain that upper part isn't available for just above the grill. It is part of the grill for a 96. Older years have a piece that runs across the whole top, over the headlights and the grill. People often think that a piece is missing above the grill when they get one from a older year and find out there is a gap above the grill. I have an extra grill with that upper part if you would like it.

I have a grill but am missing that upper piece. If you have one for sale, I'd be very interested! Thanks

pm me and we can work out a deal. I can take pictures of it to see if it's what you need. It's white and in fairly good condition. It could use a new coat of paint, but there are no cracks or chunks missing. I got it off of a 95 or 96 out of a JY back in the summer. I thought it would fit mine, then I realized the trim isn't incorporated into my grill. I just kept my old cracked one on, it shows character. haha.
