There's a small round piece near the coolant tank that has a few solid plastic lines going to it and an electrical connector. It has a ticking sound while engine is running. Assume it has something to do with emissions or fuel. Is that normal?

Are you talking about the evap. canister with the vac lines going into it?

 

That more than likely is the coveted jeep egg (aka Evap/vacuum Canister)

 

Purge solenoid. Clicking/tapping good.

 

Okay, wasn't sure. After some work on the engine, etc. it's not as noisy and this wasn't something I noticed before.
