I belive I have a stock NP231 tc. But compared with photos on Google it looks like there are more parts. It got a tail cone, some rusted parts and a big donut. Whats all this?

The ring on the driveshaft is a dampener, the thing hanging by the tail must be a vibration dampener but have never seen that type before. Seeing the flange for the front shaft may say it's a 207 case but that red tag on the rear of the case will tell for sure. It's stamped as to what it is.

Yeah that definitely doesn't look like my 231. As was said the red tag will tell you what is it.

No mention of any of this in my 2000 XJ parts fiche or in either the gas or diesel sections of my 2000 FSM.

Second the glance at the red tag... could just be some aftermarket or junkyard finds bolted on though

KJ didn't come out until 2002 model year. 2.5TD VM Motori was on all of the post-Renault XJs overseas

i believe the europeans called the cherokee a liberty.... that does not look like a 231 case at all.

Close. Europeans called the Liberty a Cherokee, though.

Is it some kind of disconnect for the rear driveline as used when towing behind a motorhome?
