What is all this on my NP231?

It's not a disconnect of any type. Those are vibration dampeners. The one on the driveshaft is on several cars here. Might be different vibration standards in Europe. It's also a XJ.

I'm going to vote for 2 different types of vibration dampeners. The round weight on the drive shaft seems pretty clear. The other seems to be connected to the case. The box appears to have a 2nd part inside which I assume is rubber mounted to the outside.

Yes old thread, but I came across this in an Advanced Adapters SYE install manual:
"On newer transfer cases, Jeep used a harmonic dampener. The dampener has 3 tapped metric holes. By installing bolts into these holes, they will go through the dampener and press against the stock tailhousing, pressing the harmonic dampener off the output shaft."

I'm guessing either the Euro standards were different or someone swapped that in from a late-model TJ
