Towing behind a motorhome is not done in Norway, and I belive it's not done in Europe either.

European motorhomes lack the power to even propel themselves over 50 km/h.

It's not a disconnect of any type. Those are vibration dampeners. The one on the driveshaft is on several cars here. Might be different vibration standards in Europe. It's also a XJ.

Don't worry about them and move on.

Thats the only thing I can think of too..
Its obviously a 231 case (stamp says it right on there), and its obviously a cherokee, not a liberty.

Still very odd.

It's a growth. Cut it off before it grows

I'm going to vote for 2 different types of vibration dampeners. The round weight on the drive shaft seems pretty clear. The other seems to be connected to the case. The box appears to have a 2nd part inside which I assume is rubber mounted to the outside.

Yes old thread, but I came across this in an Advanced Adapters SYE install manual:

"On newer transfer cases, Jeep used a harmonic dampener. The dampener has 3 tapped metric holes. By installing bolts into these holes, they will go through the dampener and press against the stock tailhousing, pressing the harmonic dampener off the output shaft."

Also found these lovlies:

I'm guessing either the Euro standards were different or someone swapped that in from a late-model TJ
