I like to get rid of stuff that I just dont "need" ! Like smog and AC and stuff of that sort. What all can I strip off my 88 cherokee 4.0 to clean up the engine bay and make working on it simpler?

 

not a whole lot more than the compressor and the lines associated with it. You can get rid of your airbox and get one of those round filters, but only thing that gets you better access to is maybe your lower rad hose. You can get rid of that heater control valve if you have one, but if you have the pressurized system it doesnt open up a whole lot of room.

In general most stuff can be removed quite easy to access something else, and just put it back after you move it.

 

There is alot that can be removed not just in the engine bay.
