It's the front axle dust shield. It goes on the axle shaft where it enters the axle tube/housing, just inboard of the u-joints. It keeps dust/dirt from entering the axle tube.

It looked like the clickable link had been double-pasted so I just cut out the photobucket address and pasted it in my browser, and voila!

To walk a potato, all you have to do is go buy a demented beagle-mix and then tie a string/rope/etc. between you and it. Then name the damn thing "Potato" and away you go! (be sure to first secure all bread-products.)

Those are axle tube dust shields. They go on the front axles and help keep boulders out of the axle tubes.
You can get them or better versions from any 4wd parts catalog.
