Default werid noise when ideling

this happens very rarely like once in a blue moon, when i am ideling at a stop light i hear a knock, kncok, knock sound coming from where the transmission is i know for sure its not the engine b/c the engine has 13,000 miles on it, its new. I was told it might be a loose touque converter which is probably what it is, and ideas though??? I am not really worried about it just that its a a strange noises to hear from a jeep with a new engine and a tranny with 114,000 miles on it. thanks for the help

would definitely look at the torque converter bolts, especially if they are already loose... I would say that could be a big concern rather quickly

i dont remember a rattling noise, however how hard is it to get access to the torque converter bolts do i have to remove the tranny?, also could it be a bent flywheel

No,it is simple just remove your inspection cover, dust cover(front bottom of trany) and you will be able to get to them, you will need to have some help to rotate the engine to get to all of them.
Just so you know on an automatic you cannot remove the trany unless the torgue converter bolts are off. If it was bent I think you would here it all the time, there is very little clearance around the flexplate.

Mine would rattle once in a while while stopped in gear.......I finally found it to be the linkage to my NP242 (once it got more consistent).

you are not the only who found that it was linkage conected between floor and tranny. I used some chain lube. worked in an instant.

I have a knock/rattle noise that is what you described except mine is pretty consistent. I am almost positive it is my shift linkage to my transfer case. It's pretty rusty down there and probably could be greased and tightened.

That is a simple enough fix!
