Went through an unavoidable puddle..
It wasn't very big, but after I hit it, it seemed the engine was a tad slower at accelerating and made a bit of a noise but then it went away, any idea what happened?

I would not worry about it if it went away. Maybe a wet alternator or distributor cap. Your biggest problem is you drive an XJ and are worried about a puddle! The only time I avoided a puddle was when I had the entire rear floor pan removed.

^This. Its from the accessory belt getting wet and slipping on the pullys. happens to me sometimes as i love to go puddle splashing!
