Default Went hardcore wheeling this weekend and now....

I have a squealing/squeaking noise coming from the front of t-case where the rear of shaft goes in. I got under it and turned the front shaft side to side and it squeals/squeaks right where the yoke goes into the t-case . I have a 96 XJ with auto and np-231. What could this be? My joints are fine. I need help please!

Sounds like the front output bearing on the T-case.

It could be the Cardan joint (the 2 U joints that are together) you need to take out the DS and have it checked (wiggle the joint and see it it moves easy or binds up)...Tj

Great point, could also be this ^^. Pull your front DS and drive around without it and see if the noise is still there. If not, problem is in your DS. If it's still there, probable in the T-case based on what you described.

2 to 3 foot deep x300 foot long mud holes ,rock climbing major hill climbs and so on. I was the only one that did'nt need to get winched. My buds were all higher with bigger tires than me too. They were getting pissed at me cuz my Jeep went through everything theirs could'nt.It was really cool. We had roughly 100 to 120 rigs with us. I dont know how I got through alot of it but I did. They kept saying it was cuz I have brand new SSRs. But, some of them had new tires too? The pic of the front tire of the Bronco that is burried, I went through that 3xs forward and twice backwards to pull them out. It was great. It was also about 3 to 400 foot long. I cant beleive how awesome this thing goes.

The sound you described sounds like the ds carden joint. My jeep made the same noise twice now and both time was the centering ball inside the double carden.

Where is the carden and is it hard to do?

The double cardan is the big joint on the front DS at the T-case end. Not hard to do really. If you know how to replace DS u-joints the cardan is not that bad.

Its sounds like it is in the t-case not the joints. If I put my ear on the t-case then its 10xs louder than anywhere else. You know where the yoke goes into the t-case. Its behind that.I'll check it though.

Well, sounds like a bearing then. I would take the 15 minutes and remove the shaft anyways just so you can completely rule it out. Plus you need to remove it to change the bearing anyways.

Based on this ^^ I'm going back to my original suspect of the front output bearing on your T-case. X2, on still pulling the shaft and running without it anyway, just to make sure.
