Default Weird purple box..

Under dash on driver side. Anyone know this is? Guessing trailer light setup?

Also a brown wires was coming out of the mess that was wired into the fuse panel from the front. It got pulled out by accident when doing brake booster upgrade.

Edit: should have mentioned 1989 Renix XJ.

I'm guessing that your vehicle doesn't start. That tan wire likely came from "IGN" for ignition. I don't know about the purple module.

Starts and runs line a champ. All the time everytime.

The brown wire was "stuck" into the fuse panel from the front before it got pulled out. Not properly wired in.

Ok, after more googling and finding more examples of a Dana box like that referencing it as cruise control I can believe that is what it is.

Is that stock configuration on a Renix? Does not appear to be mounted in a "stock" way. Couple of wire ties under the dash and a wad of electrical tape?

@Cruiser54 would probably know?

Leaving out what year it really adds to the fun! (how about it's an 84 with a security system?) Maybe the rare 12 cylinder with an 8 speed manual? LOL! I think it's an early security thing.

OH, Whoops! 89. I'm still leaning towards security...where the heck is Cruiser? He will know.

BTW I have two 90's, (pretty much the same as 89), one with cruise and one without, but my 84 has security and that stupid box hanging there. Just "nagware" for me. Every now and then I need to push some button to make the red light go off. It always works, I lost the "magic radio fob" that goes with the key. Never bothered to figure out how to s-can it since it always works! I DID stumble on something somewhere years ago that "it's not that easy", whatever that means.
