anyone use royal purple in there jeeps?
i use it in my cobalt... manual trans fluid and syn. oil... i have to say, it is amazing. shifts so easy now and runs smoother. i was thinking about running it in the jeep.
im putting regular oil in it because of leaks but what about trans and gear?
just wondered if anyone uses it and what kind?
auto trans?
oil?
gear oil?

I think they make good gear oil.. I know lots of guys locally run it in their diffs..I have no plans for synthetic in the motor but maybe in the tranny.

dont use royal purple for your oil. my friend used it in his car, and he said it ran better with mobil 1 oil. i used it in my truck as well and it ran better with a different oil too...i forget what other brand i used though.

I think it's 1 1/2 quarts in the front, 2 1/2 quarts in the rear (chrysler 8.25).
I used RP 75-90 up front, 75-140 in the rear.
For oil it's either Pennszoil Platinum or Rotella S 5-40.

I couldn't have said it better myself. My old boss races circle track. Napa sponsors he and his son because they are our main parts supplier (Napa service center)
In his 13:1 SBC, he was running Valvoline 50W racing oil for the longest time. The Napa rep started giving him the Royal Purple. He ran it, then blew the motor. "No big deal" he said- thinking it was his son's foot, and not the oil. Then he blew another. He said to me "you think it's the oil"? So he went back to the -50W Valvoline Racing, and hasn't blown a motor since.
I'll let you decide on that one.

You leave out a bit of IMPORTANT info... which RP blend??? The Valvoline 50w racing blend is alot different than the RP 10w-30 off the shelf.... Just like the 50w racing isn't the same oil as the Valvoline 10w-30 you can walk into the store and get either....
I don't like RP either... they spend far too much on marketing rather than on their products these days..

Best oil out there. Use it in all my rigs and have the fluids regularly tested. Always better specs than the best dino fluids even after extended mileage use.

I use it in differentials, it's never done anyone I know wrong there.
I use mobil 1 full synthetic 10w30 in the new 4.0, and I ONLY use genuine mopar oil filters on it.
transmissions...my manual gets plain gear lube (75w80 or 90 amsoil), and the automatic ONLY gets dex/merc +3.
t-case gets the same dex/merc as the aw4
