Just wanted to ask if anybody else has seen this happen or know what it is. I was driving my wifes 01 2wd xj yesterday and it hit 153,900 miles. During that mile I looked down and the air bag light came on. So im staring at it thinking bout pulling it over and turning it off and back on and see what happend. Then the CEL comes on and im like WTF
. This is where it gets really good. The odometer starts reading NO BUS. This all happened in probably 15 secs then it all when back to normal and the odometer rolled 153,901. Dont think it was anything serious but just wonder WTF that was
Thanks to anybody who might shed some light on this

Classic symptoms of a "flaky" connection issue with the dash cluster. Not uncommon on your vintage.
Try disassembling, spraying the cluster connector clean with electrical contact cleaner (available anywhere), add some dielectric grease (this grease is really important in preventing a recurrence) and reconnect.
