any idea's or personal experiance would be appreciated. thanks
My 95 laredo leaks in my cargo area really bad. I have checked everything even taken all paneling out to figure out where its going from. I also sat in the back while someone sprayed a hose over the back. Found nothing. Well just now I found out where the water is coming from!!!!!!!! If you reach into the taillight area, there are draining hoses in each side. I cant follow it up as the space is too small. However, I am thinking they come from the vent things on the outside side. I am waiting for a friend to come help me with it.

Nothing like a very old thread coming to life is there. Anyway, it's still relavent regardless of how old it is.
Mine is/was leaking as well and I just recently stripped out the interior and found that mine was coming down the passenger side rear pillar. I don't know why I didn't notice earlier, but I had fir needles and dirt causing a dam by both hinges in the hatch gutter. I ran water in the hatchback gutter and the water was leaking through where the wires pass through the body and down toward the tail lights. I cleaned out the gutter under the hinges and that cured my problem I think. Since I have access now with headliner and panels removed I want to get in there and make sure it sealed up completely.
As for the drain hoses you found. My 96 doesn't seem to have any. Where exactly would they be connected to? I looked around and couldn't see anything but maybe I'm looking in the wrong place.

Its probably not the main seal..check the 2 rubber boots that feed the wires from the inside of the hatch thru the roof under the main pivot area...water leaks from there then falls onto the ceiling plastic trim covers then flows to the outside left or right side...sometimes it leaks from the screwholes but the real culprit is the flexilble wire boots you can see with the hatch open

I believe you're correct about the boots that the harness goes through. They actually look to be in great shape, but it doesn't take much of an opening. I haven't touched them yet, but was thinking it might be best to seal them from both sides since I have access. The big thing is to keep the gutter clean. I live in a wooded area off of a dirt and gravel road, and fir needles and dust get everywhere. Add a little rain to the dust and needles and dam gets created that even a Beaver would be proud of. Speaking of dams, I need to create one in the cowl area, because rain water rolls down the cowl and leaks through the air intake to the heater core area and then onto the floor. I refuse to cut a hole and seal the area with that way. I'd rather build a small sheet metal dam to keep the water from running in that direction.

If you seal from underneath, and the top leaks the water will get trapped and start to rust up there... better to know its leaking and do a better job of resealing any leaks on the upper surface
