Water Pump question

Default Water Pump question
I'm in the process of replacing the water pump on my 97 4.0L. When I pulled the old pump off, the surface on the block was pretty dirty/corroded. I was able to scrap off most of it.

The water pump came with a paper gasket. Is it better to use the paper gasket or RTV it?

Both,use the gasket with rtv on both sides,make sure the surface on the block is very clean.
