I got mine from Quadratec. It was a Crown Automotive piece. The better route to go is to the the hose barb trick. I replaced my water pump at the same time.
Just an update. I went to 2 other parts stores yesterday and every water pump they had for my jeep had the non-threaded inlet. I'm hesitant to buy one online because I cant confirm if it is or not.
I was thinking of just buying the correct inlet hose for the pumps they did have but the inlet hose looks like its threaded too from the image. Also, this pipe is not metal on mine, it is a hose that should slip onto the brass nipple from the waterpump.
Buy one from Napa. Make sure to buy a gasket separatly. When I got mine they said the gasket that came with it was the same as the one they sell alone. It definitely was not the same gasket and the gasket that did come with the pump wasn't even close to correct. Of course I didn't realize until after I installed the pump and it leaked. This was also after they accidentally gave me a grand Cherokee pump and I clear coated it all nice, installed it and then realized it was incorrect when the pulley wouldn't go on. Lol. And x2 they don't look like 4.0 pumps.
Thanks, I ended up replacing the other day and so far it has been great. The one I installed had the non-threaded inlet area where the tube just pushes into it. I had to buy the inlet tube and new hose that connect to it that run back into the engine since it was previously just a threaded piece with a long hose. Thanks for everyones help!

Doh! I realized that just now as I was reading my own post. Yes the gasket that came with the pump was fine. I replaced the thermostat housing and the gasket in the box was crap. I tried using it anyway and it leaked. Did pump, thermostat and housing, Inlet tube, upper and lower radiator hose, and temp sensor. All from NAPA. A little over $100.
Did a prestone flush and two drain and fills before I swapped the radiator and all the parts. Heater core still has some blockage so hopefully a back flush will fix it or at least get me a little more heat for the winter.
i just looked at the plumbing on my 2000. a "bent" pipe comes out of the pump and points to the heater, connects to one heater hose. it is very rusty and im concerned about it. being bent, how does it come out? it must be threaded but cant rotate ? how does it get changed?
scuse me, never mind, i went back to the start of this thread and see the brass. i do wonder if i can, when needed, cut or break the rusty pipe AND get it unthreaded without pulling the pump? dont look like a pipe wrench will get in there? vice grips? anybody done this without pulling pump?

Yes. Mine was so rusted that it snapped with my hands after bending it around a fair bit. What was left was short enough that I fit a normal socket over it.
Barring that, you could use a Dremel or something and a deep socket.

ok, great, i figured i could break it somehow but the socket i didnt think of. ill get the brass and stuff to fill the gap to be ready. i would never try to replace the bent pipe!
thanks again!

When I replaced mine preemptively, the rusty bent pipe and old but probably still good water pump went in the trash. I had the new water pump a new bent pipe and a 5/8" hose barb ready to go on. I flipped a coin and the bent pipe won, true story.
Replaced my cooling system recently. Didn't even try to remove the inlet tube and went with the brass fitting in the new pump. Old pump impellers(160K miles)look like new and not even a drip at the weep hole. But like Turbo's it's in the trash.
nujeepguy,
The inlet tube is shaped with the bend.
