Default water leaking into Passenger side Floor

I have water leaking onto my passenger side floor. I bypassed the heater core thinking that was the problem but I still have a leak only when I drive. Is there anything else that could cause a leak? I already replaced one floor pan. I don't want to replace another.

I bet its under the cowl. Take a look through the slots and see if it looks rusty or anything. Or better yet, take the cowl off, dry it out, then seal up the edges with some silicone caulk so water can't accumulate in there and migrate somewhere else.

Actually, you can buy gutter sealant that is a gray/silver color thats used inside gutters. Thats stuff is the beez-knees... clean the surface good with isopropyl and let it dry, then slap it in the corners and along the edges. Thats stuff wont come off with out a razor blade. Either that or just the clear silicone.

Can anyone confirm or deny if there is SUPPOSED to be a drain hole under the cowl?

If so, dont seal the drain hole, just wherever else it looks like it may be leaking besides the place its supposed to drain

Unless I missed it I don't see any mention of it raining when leaking, only that it leaks while driving. I don't think there is any water in the cowl to leak unless it is raining. It seems more likely that a clogged drain line is preventing condensation from the a/c from draining and it is overflowing onto the floor.
Is the a/c on when it is leaking? Is there water in the floorboard after a rain?

My XJ retains water for days after a rain sometimes, even in this hot dry climate of Denver. I can be parked in the street and then pull it into the driveway and see a water trail from the street to the driveway...... then when its in park and I get out, the water trail stops just behind the LEFT front fender well.... so I'm assuming its from under the cowl.... just a guess....

Exactly. Until we know if this is rain related, it's all just a waste of time.

no there is no water on the floor after rain. It only does it when the A/C is on for a bit. The Cowl seems dry.

This good info. Why do I feel like this has never been said in other threads when people talk about water being on the passenger floor. Maybe I just missed the post that mentioned it....
