Default Water Leak when A/C is on

Hello, first and foremost the tech articles on this site are great and I should have became a member a long time ago ! I know this has been discussed many times, but never got the exact answer I'm looking for. I have a 96' XJ that leaks when the A/C is on onto the passenger side floorboard. BUT, the water is leaking onto the floor, coming out of the floor air vent box. I never could find out in the other forums how the water was exactly was getting on the floor. I know its coming from the vent box because when I make a hard left turn it travels through the box and onto my feet! I didn't know if this would be the same issue as the drain problem in the frame rail, or something different. Thank you in advance for any advice!

The drain plug in the engine compartment is plugged up. You have to get in there and unplug it, that will solve the issue.

Might be easiest to unplug from the outside, underneath the car. It will come out not too far from the junction of the firewall and floor pan. It might have a flapper type closure to keep bugs/critters, etc out. Squeeze it to open and try to run a piece of wire up into the tube to clear a blockage.

So it just needs that restriction removed to function. (and still maybe blasted clear of the gunk that built up with it there)

Thanks for the replies! I pulled the hose off the drain and ran a wire in and out, nothing came out but maybe it broke some gunk up. The end of my hose didn't have pinched end on it to help keep debris out, so who knows I may have a dirt dobber nest in there! I will drive it here in a few days after I do a brake job and see if it helped.
