Default Want to tighten up my steering

My steering is loose and I want to tighten it up. I have heard that all jeeps have loose steering but there has to be something that can tighten it up. Is there?

You can do that HERE
Make sure that all other components are tight like the TREs and Ball Joints and bushings.

I don't have loose steering and neither did my tj. All jeeps? nah.....

edit: i just read that article blue. It says to adjust so there's 1" play before the wheel turns. Mine has no play at all. When i turn the wheel just a bit the wheels turn with it. I don't have this 1" play in mine. Am i special or something?

I've found that if your getting loose steering, that the steering shaft u-joints are bad. And those aren't serviceable, you have to replace the shaft..

I put in a rancho steering stabilizer... Was surprised how much it helped.

All my play is in my steering box. All my front end components are new. my steering shaft seems tight but there is about 2.5" of turning of the steering shaft before there is any pitman arm movement. I have adjusted the steering box once a few years ago but think it is past adjusting and needs a new/rebuilt box by the spring.
