Walmart broke my Oil Pressure Sender! What am I to expect...
I got my oil changed at Walmart today and when I got it back I found my oil pressure sender as it would appear broken clean and half. I'm going to make them pay for it and fix it but I'm wondering what time to expect for this kind of a repair because it seems the other half is stuck inside my engine block... Are they going to have to go in there and extract it? I've never broken my sender before so I'm not sure

I would insist on a Mopar unit, although I have been running a BWD or whatever replacement with no negative side effects
And make sure when you change it, use a coat hangar or something to make sure the passage is clear before you thread the new sensor on
Edit:
And the old one should be easy to remove with some vice grips, no worries there.
But you should feel ashamed for taking your XJ to Walmart. I feel like we should publicly shame you so you will never do it again

MOPAR for sure if for no other reason than that is what they broke. My aftermarket lasted a month.
IF I WAS DOING IT MYSELF after removing the broken threaded part I'd crank the engine a bit (pull coil wire first) to make sure the passage is clear.
Why not just have them give you a MOPAR sensor and do it yourself. That way you can also install a REAL oil filter?

lol... lazy moment to regret, all jokes aside
you can go back to Walmart and complain but no guarantees that they will replace it. If you did not notice it when you left its your problem. Sorry, is just how they cover their a$$ and worse they can tell you things like, "how do we know you did not do it? to get a new one?"

Seriously dude. An oil change is a 30 minute job. Done on a saturday morning before you go off wheeling or fishing or.. to your kids soccer game. And.. and.. Wallmart?.. you took your baby to Wallmart?..
(I stagger back in horror and place my palm to my forehead.)
Heh.. setting that aside. I'd let it pass. Wouldnt even bother going through the stress and hassle of taking it back and demanding they fix it.
Fix it YOURSELF.
Take care of the problem so you KNOW it has been done right.
The oil sensor screws into an adapter set into the block. You can remove that adapter if you have to.
Here's what I would do. I would unscrew the other half of the oil sensor from the adapter. Then I would go buy a reliable new oil sensor and either a Wix or Napa oil filter, as well as some thread sealant and some dielectric grease (bulb grease.. you can get it in those cute little mini-packets on display at the counter of any auto parts store). Ohh.. and pick up one of those packages of multi sized zip ties while you are at the autoparts store.
I'd apply thread sealant to the threads of the Oil sensor. And screw it in place. Then I'd apply some of the dielectric grease to the connector contacts. Plug those connectors together, and use the zip ties to keep the wiring AWAY from the engine block. It gets HOT.
Finally, "I'd unscrew that fram oil filter. Toss it in the trash. You wasted your money on that thing. Might as well use a tin-can, stuffed with tissue paper as a filter. Fill up your new Wix or Napa filter with fresh oil. Apply a thin seal of fresh, clean oil to the rubber gasket and screw it on hand tight.
Top off the oil level if needed.
Drive your Jeep.. secure in the knowledge that your oil sensor and oil filter will perform reliably and as designed. Because YOU did the work.

If the jackasses screwed up a oil change, what will they do on a job like that? I'd request they pay for the part and reimburse you for the oil change. Then, never go back.

Could be worse. Years ago a friend took a new car to Jiffy Lube for its first oil change. The "service technician" there managed to drain the automatic transmission then overfill the engine and sent her on her way. Hilarity soon ensued.
