Default Oil Pressure Sender Keeps Popping Out

My 96 Cherokee's oil pressure sender keeps malfunctioning. The "plug" for the oil pressure sender at the end of the tube keeps popping out of the housing. As far as i can tell, there is no major oil leakage, but i can't get any reading on the gauge inside, which is bothersome. When i set the plug back into the housing and start the car, the pressure of the oil pops the plug out enough so that it can't get a good pressure reading anymore. Am I not resetting it correctly or has the thing just finally bit the dust?

Thanks in advance

Just replace the sending unit, they are cheap.
