Default Wagoneer tilt steering issues

Recently my 88 Wagoneer Limited tilt steering become extremily wobbly and loose at what seeems to be the tilt joint. My question is, how hard is this to fix and is there any immediate danger in driving until i get this fixed? Any input will gladly be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Pull the steering wheel, lock plate, and turn signal switch off the top of the column. There will be three screws to tighten down, that should take care of the wobbley column.

X2 Yep common problem. Caused by grabbing the steering wheel to pull your self in and out.

Until i fix this, is there any danger in driving it? And about how long should the repair take? I got the needed tools for removing steering wheel and lockplate yesterday.

quick fix you can remove the steering wheel and get to 2 of the three bolts by tilting the wheel up and down i cant remember but if you dont tighten them they can fall out and get jammed in the works .

You do need to take out the lock plate and turn signal switch to get to them, Make your life easier and get a steering wheel puller and lock plate removal tool (about $35 for the kit at Harbor Freight) before your start this. It will take about an hour to do with the right tools.

Jeep used GM columns and this is a common issue on the column.
As everyone else said its only three bolts. If your going to do it, I suggest added locktite to the screws so you don't have to do this again later.

gm and jeep used saginaw colomns and boxes i actually used a cherokee box as a quicker ratio steering box on a 71 elcamino...... BTW just so you know going into it the bolts are TORX, i think they are T25s but don't hold my to the size
