Vinyl Florring - Confused!
I ordered a complete ACC vinyl floor kit for my XJ and am confused. This is supposed to be a top quality flooring that is moled to the contours of the floor. I unpacked it today, and its just two flat pieces vinyl! No contours at all. What the heck???? There aren't even the contours for the wheel wells. I have no idea how I'm going to make this fit.
I feel completely ripped off. Paid $300 for 2 extra large floor mats.
Am I missing something or what?

Is there any mention of using a heat gun or a blow dryer to ad plyability the vinyl?Ive put a couple of new "formed" carpets in and have had to heat them to get them to contour with the curves of the floor board.

Here is what its supposed to look like:
http://www.accmats.com/Products/Flooring/Vinyl.aspx
I bought it from jcwhitney.com SKU number 1JA436469, (if you select a 1996 Cherokee it shows more details and states it goes over the wheel wells).
I'll take pics tomorrow. I've order 2 previous sets of carpet from ACC and they fit great! This thing is just a POS. I am going to buy a heat gun and see what happens. Otherwise I'll be spending $150 to ship back 60 pounds of plastic.

Well to be honest, its rated 4 out of 5 stars and as I've said, I've used ACC carpeting several times and its good quality stuff. Probably the most popular replacement carpet out there. Just avoid the vinyl flooring I guess. If the heat gun doesn't help and nobody else has any other advice, then it going back.
Anybody know someone with replacement vinyl floors?

I've used ACC Mats a bunch of times also with other cars and had no problems. I've never gone through JCW though, I always went directly with ACCM.

Haven't had time to mess with it yet so still no news. I was hoping if I set it out it would form back to the original shape, but nope, still just a flat mat so far.
I went with JCW because they had a free shipping deal. I ordered a 63 pound vinyl carpet and a 45 pound Curt trailer hitch. I saved a bundle on shipping,...unless I have to ship it back.

I started looking last year for a molded rubber "factory type" liner for mine.
I talked to 3 different carpet manufacturers who also did the vinyl flooring. None of them supplied a true factory type molded liner. One said they put them in the carpet molds to try and form them but they didnt shape very well. So i just stuck with my carpet.
I didnt try calling the jeep dealer to price factory vinyl flooring but im sure it would be high. The forestry service models and other government agency models came with the vinyl flooring.

As an update, I did get the vinyl in, but its still a pain. It never did form very well, but looks acceptable. You just have to get used to the bubbles in the floor. Obviously it doesn't do sharp corners very well and in the cold winter temps, its as stiff as a board. I'm going to have to wait until the warmer weather then re-adjust everything. In a couple places it get so stiff it actually pops out from under the trim pieces.
I guess I'll be decently happy with it once I get it all adjusted, but it was much more difficult then normal carpet and I did have to rivet it down in several places.
Oh well. Not sure I would recommend it, but its certainly functional.

You have to heat it up, heat gun, to make it fit as intended. Seal the floor using something like por15, add insulation if you choose and then glue the vinyl into place. That's the best way to make it work. Also you should use the old carpet as a template to cut all the necessary holes.

I did use a heat gun, but while it did make it more workable, it was nowhere near flexible enough to get in every crack where I would feel comfortable gluing it down. I did lay a jute padding for insulation and to sop up any small water leakage. Gluing it down would probably keep it from popping out from under the trim, but for me, being able to fold it out of the way or remove it entirely is a requirement. With the rust repair work I have already done, I want to keep on top of it before it gets to bad.
