Help me out. I just put on a RC 4.5" lift. Before the alignment, it was vibrating like crazy. It mostly felt up front, but I thought I felt a drive shaft vibration occasionally too. I figured the alignment would fix it, but I just got it back and it is still doing it. It is better don't get me wrong, but still lots of vibes. I called back just to make sure everything was done right and he said they adjusted the toe (which was WAY off), the track bar and the castor. He assured me everything was right. It is still really loud up front with the occasion rear vibration. Before the lift, I was getting a wobble in the front, now it feels tight, but I wonder if part of it isn't the tires....with worn out suspension it was a wobble, with tight suspension it is a vibration???? I have a TC drop, but as I have heard they don't always fix the drive shaft vibes. Does anyone know without going to an SYE is there anything else I can do for the rear such as lower the TC any more or angle my axle up a bit more? Any ideas what could be causing the front end vibrations? Is the front drive shaft prone to vibes with a lift??

How much tcase drop do you have?

Its a 1" TC drop. I had a friend look at it today and he thinks it is drive line vibes and the shims on the rear leafs are backward. He said the diff is pointing up too much making the drive line angle different that the one on the TC side. I put them on how they were shipped. Can anyone verify the correct way the shim should go? Should the thick part be toward the front or the rear?

try putting some washers between the TC drop spacer and the unibody, that what i did and took alot of the vibrations away, im going to be getting a SYE in the furture, but the washers are working right now

 

if you shimmed the rear leaves, thick part is toward the rear. angles the diff upward toward the t-case.

I take it your tires and wheels have been mounted and balanced correctly? Are they stock or upgraded.

 

The shims are the ones on the leafs that came with them...I guess factory. The thicker part is in the rear, angling the diff toward the TC. My friend (a mechanic) thinks it should be the other way angling it down to keep the angle the same as the one at the TC. He said if it has less angle than the other side of the drive shaft, you will get accel, decell vibes. Does this sound right? He thinks I should flip them. Any other thoughts???

Stock wheels and tires right now...same as before the lift.

Also, he is a little concerned about the front DS. He says the angles are off there too and that I need adjustable control arms to fix it. Thoughts???

the thicker part of the leaf spring shim on cherokees is towards the rear. This angles your rear diff up at the tc giving it a less dramatic angle. 4.5 inch lift your are looking at a sye if your front end is tight and the tires check out.

 

Sounds like I need a SYE. I may try to drop the TC another 1/2 inch first and see if it helps, then look around for a SYE.
