Default Vibration, loss of power.

I have searched for the last couple of hours and haven't really been able to figure out what my problem is. I have an 89 4.0 auto 4x4 and ever since I used it to tow a trailer it has been having major problems. It started as just a little vibration that would occur randomly when pushing on the gas pedal. Now it is almost a constant problem. Anytime I hit the gas it makes a weird knock and vibrates. Also a major loss in power. Could I have just fouled a plug or maybe a trans problem? Any opinions? Thanks

What and how much weight did you pull?

It was just a small trailer with a refridgerator on it. I did pull it up a rather long steep incline.

Your Cherokee should have been able to handle that no problem, even on a long incline.

yeah, no problem there I have pulled way more then that on very steep and long inclines. That said I am wondering if maybe your torque converter may be coming apart? Does it have much less power then it has in the past? Does it only have loss of power at low end or all power ranges?

The loss of power is noticeably different to me anyway. It has less power especially in the higher range. A definate lack of "jump"

My guess is transmission issue. Does it seem to be using more fuel? Could be in Limp mode if the 89 even has that mode....not to familiar with the later model stuff.
