Default Valve Adjustments

I have a 94 cherokee 4.0. I have a slight knock coming from valves. I was wondering on how to adjust them what are the torque specs. Any help is appreciated.

Self-adjusting hydraulic valve train, no adjustment. I believe the rocker arm bridges get torqued to +/-20 lb/ft.

Probably just a lifter not fully expanding.

Probably not unless its running.

Hydraulic lifters use oil pressure to expand them. The motor needs to be running for that to happen, unless you spin the oil pump manually.

Lifter are way down in the block, below the head.

Up top, the pushrods and rockers are moving so fast, even at idle, you will not be able to see the slack.

You probably have a sticky or collapsing lifter that is not pumping up fully.

Really the only way to fix this is pull the head and replace all the lifters.
