The vacuum lines on my 1987 Pioneer have become old and brittle and there are so many patched sections that I'm looking into replacing everything rather than fixing the latest break. The stock tubing is 4mm (5/32") OD and is some kinds of hard plastic, as in not rubber. The best match for the tubing that I've been able to find in bulk is http://www.grainger.com/product/ATP-Tubing-1CTG9 , but there is also the silicone option. I'd be interest in other material suggestions and experiences before I begin.
Thanks!

Vacuum harness rear ($18, RockAuto):
DORMAN Part # 46004 {#53004868}
Vacuum harness front ($19, RockAuto):
DORMAN Part # 46003 {#53004838}
Shouldn't need to replace them as a harness, just whatever tubing you may need. Any auto parts store has rolls of various sizes of vacuum hose for like a buck a foot...
CCV hose (from valve cover, always gets clogged on renixes, $7.50, RockAuto):
DORMAN Part # 42088 {#53004722} ID: 0.229"; O.D.: 1.314"; Thickness: 0.823"
CCV Grommet ($2.50, RockAuto) (I think the grommet actually comes with the hose part number, but just in case):
DORMAN Part # 42088 {#53004722} ID: 0.229"; O.D.: 1.314"; Thickness: 0.823"
As for other various tubing such as MAP sensor tube - try to get hard vacuum tubing if possible for whatever parts were originally hard line, since you don't want low spots in the hoses because it will collect moisture. Hard line comes in a ~8 foot loop in the Dorman section usually) Otherwise just get vacuum hose by the foot in whatever size you need at an auto store.

There's still a chance that the 88 set will work in my 87, and hopefully someone has been down this road before.

I bought the replacement harness for my 87 but haven't installed it yet. I believe the only (or major) difference is the EGR vacuum line. The 87 goes straight to the egr valve where the 88-90 goes to a vacuum amplifier. If need be, I'm going to just replace that one line with standard rubber vacuum hose.

Always nice to find another 87 owner. Thanks for the information and please let me know how your project goes.

A few years ago I got tired of fixing vacuum lines one at a time, and bought 8 feet of every size that they had at the local Advance auto store. Keeping the family cars going takes less gas now, with fewer 10-mile trips for hose.

Well, I just installed my vacuum harness on my 87 today and it fit with a couple exceptions.
First, the EGR, as suspected, was different. I however fixed it by cutting off a portion of my old EGR vacuum line and splicing it into the new line. It was easy because the rubber "boot" at the end of the plastic line held the cut off portion tightly. Anyhow, I don't really care if vacuum gets to the EGR anyways if you catch my drift.

Second, the rubber valve cover breather elbow leg was too long by about an inch. So I removed the boot (it was glued on), cut down the plastic tube a little and re-glued the elbow back onto the tube at the correct location. It just looks like everything on this vacuum harness is glued together with super glue, so that's what I used. It worked great. I sanded and cleaned the tube just before gluing to get best possible adhesion.
Hope that helps, or if you already completed this task, then good job!

Bill I have kept all hose sizes in my shops for well over 40 yrs now on rolls by size, same for fuel and all size AN-Lines from -04 to -14 with all fittings in my race car shop.
Its amazing how much we end up with after almost 50 in our shops of working on cars and business trucks, Race Cars since 1964.....and money.

Before I replace my vacuum lines, I think I should address the cause of the failure point and that is the hood lift rod clip is broken and allows the rod to drop and bounce on the vacuum lines and eventually break them. I was out looking for a fog light switch for my Cherokee at the local yard and also took a look to see of any of the vehicles had a functional replacement clip. Came out without a switch or clip, but did manage to find a switch and panel on eBay. I could stuff a hunk of foam in the area to protect the lines, but I was wondering if there was a common part replacement that someone to point me to.
