So I’m about change my wires, cap, and rotor and I think “lemme look for that MAP sensor hose I’ve read about.” Found it - not ideal. Looks like possibly the original line was hard plastic similar to the EGR lines, at some point it burned in half, and the missing section was replaced with rubber hosing and electrical tape.
I can’t imagine this is an airtight line.
Especially since I can do this with minimal effort.
Oh I read that. That’s how I found the hose in question in the first place. I’m wondering, though… if we are only concerned about creating an airtight vacuum seal between the throttle body and map sensor… why couldn’t I just RTV where the hose was added?
@lawsoncl I’ll do that as a temporary fix. I will do @cruiser54 ’s tip in the near future. I haven’t owned a vehicle since 2008 and just got this Jeep in Nov 2022 so tools, parts, etc… they’re all adding up. And I didn’t grow up working on cars.
I just changed the cap, rotor, and wires. None of them probably needed to be replaced so there’s $75. I love it and I hate it at the same time. It’s an addiction!
