upper radiator hose help

upper radiator hose help
I just got a 96 cherokee given to me and it had an over heating problem just did the water pump and t stat today but whenever it runs the upper radiator house caves in and pinches it pretty tight but if i take off the radiator cap it goes back to normal what could be the problem

Can't say for sure about the Jeep (I think mine has the original hoses on it still - bought new ones, just need to get them replaced and the antifreeze changed out) BUT....years ago the suction hoses (which is the bottom hose on a Chevy small block) had a spring in it to keep the water pump from collapsing the hose.
I have found that some cars don't require this spring but at one time it was used in many cars.
You could go to a Jeep dealer and ask them if the suction hose should have a spring inside it to prevent collapse, or maybe someone here knows for sure.

Water pump correct? S/B a "R" (reverse) stamped on the impeller, IIRC. Serpentine belt on correct to turn the water pump the right direction?
