Default Fog light help please....

Im an electrician and i cant figure this out.. when i boght this cherokee it had fog lights already hooked up. hard wired.. strait from battery to switch to lights. in that order with no fuses. I decide to rewire with heavier gauge wire and fuses. So i go buy some copper THHN (stranded copper wire) 10awg. Hook up from battery to fuse holder to switch to lights. Ground the lights to the bumper *beings its tied into frame/chassis* before i put the switch on i go to hook up the line and load going to the switch *aka hardwire it* just to test it and i blow the 20 amp fuse i had. I take bad fuse and put a small piece of wire to see if the fuse just wasnt enough. Again i try to tie line and load into eachother and it starts sparking at the fuse holder and at the lights... what am i doing wrong. ground
l
battery---- fuse holder---- switch---- light--- light
Is there a short in my light? btw. i took the light and placed negative to postive strait on the battery and it works. Did i nick the line going through the firewall??? im so lost.. after all this i am ashamed to say im a electrician.. lol

You can get a VOM for 3 or 4 bucks at Harbor Freight.

Thanks but id prefer my 90 dollar fluke... lol... I found out today that for some unknown reason the fogs ONLY short when they are on the frames. If its just laying on my hood it wont short. But as soon as i screw it to the little U frame it causes me to blow fuses. I got new screws for it due to the fact that i lost my old ones i dont know what im doing wrong should i put electrical tape between the U frame and the bumper?

This is so you can get an idea of the light

Yea, I figured you had a good meter on the truck, I use a Fluke myself. I was just talking about a cheap emergency tool.

If the lights have 2 wires, then you're just hooking them up backwards.
