Default upgraded "coil" any difference

wondering if there is any proven benefit to a aftermarket "high output" coil?

some say better mpg and performance, some say the factory one is just fine

anybody have a aftermarket coil notice a real difference?

I've installed just a coil before and did not notice much.
I guess if you got a whole kit but I think the stock ignition is hot enough as is.

FWIW, I installed a MSD coil and ignition box in a dd Chevy p/u a while back.......noticed zero, zip, nada "butt dyno" difference. Not knocking MSD stuff, I'm sure it's top notch stuff, just didn't notice any performance/economy difference on the dd.....got most (ok some) of my money back selling it on ebay.

Stock coil is just fine for the 4.0

And also....many of the upgrade coils have VERY poor long term reliability.
