For some reason there is a wire right next to my battery on my 98 Cherokee sport. it has a fairly large black connector on it and bundles up with a bunch of other wires. It sits right on top of my right front fender but there is nothing connected to it and i can't tell where the source is because all of the wires around it are enclosed in the same plastic casing, bundled together, then lead toward the back of the engine compartment. WHAT IS THIS WIRE FOR?! Please help and if it's anything important how do i fix it? (I would show a picture but i recently stepped on my camera and i kinda broke it

I have the mystery connector as well...would like to know what it is and if it should be connected to something. My connector is caked with gunk, so it's obviously been hanging there not connected to anything for awhile.

yea most of the jeeps wiring harnesses were made universal, for automatic and manual, for power windows and manual windows...i think you get the point. so some connectors under the hood are not connected cause they have nothing to connect too. so if you jeep runs fine...dont fix it! i had so many times when i found random connectors, yet my jeep runs fine. that is y i got my uncle at the jeep dealer to do my engine swap
