Underbody setup?
is the suspension and all the other underbody parts the same on the 92 XJ as it is on the 90 XJ?, i have a 90 now but the floors are rotted, im looking at a 92 but need to know it the stuff will match up. (both are 4 door)
im planning on taking the body off of a 92 XJ automatic and take the underbody parts like leaf springs, transfercase, front end, and things like that off of my 90 XJ and swapping them to the 92. pretty much all i want to do is change the body on mine.

or buy one that runs and drives and use yours as parts as needed... seems like to much work and trouble for a $800 vehicle?? Theres one down the road from me with 3.5in lift with leaf packs and new 31x12.50 tires that just needs acouple more tranny bolts put in it to drive but runs for $800... and its got a bull guard... lol... so unless this other one is free... dont see it being worth it... even free i still wouldnt think it would be worth it... lol

its just nuts and bolts huh? lol... i want to watch with a case of miller in the cooler next to me... should be fun! if your swapping it all out like your saying anyway... if is coming from a JY your probly looking at swapping gas tanks and fuel pump with it cause the JY one is probly crap from sittin... pull the carpet up to and make sure the floor is good... most are shot out from sitting in the sun and seals going bad around windshields and stuff... then you got rats chewing up wires all in the dash... and ac vaccum lines... $800 VS. all this... your money... my advice... just trying to help man...

yea i understand where ur comin from, my dad's gonna help me with the build cause he's been a mechanic for over 30 yrs. it awon't need to be driveable till august. i got a engine from when my bro first owned it and need a parts jeep, we took it out and were planning on putting in new crank, pistons, and some other things
this is very doable make sure to place all bolts in ziplock bags and mark what they are for believe me take the time to do it or you will be sorry when reasembling and as said make sure the floors are good all of them also check the rocker and the fenders behind the flares those are the most common rust spots good luck
Yeah I have to agree with these guys. Anything in a JY is no longer meant to be driven. Its going to be more work than you think. But hey, if you wanna do it, more power to ya.
But, if all you want is the nicer interior, take your seats and interior panels out/off, put new carpet in and put the nicer seats and panels in, might save you some $ at the JY too. My 0.02

we looked at it pretty good in the JY and it's not rusting on the roof, floor panels, wheel well's, or the sliders, if i need parts im just going to take them off the old jeep, the floors are the worst in my old one and the work to patch it is unbelievable
