YES, it can. I put a nice set of tires on from Les Schwab and one tire warped out (never heard of it before). It gave me a horrible death wobble at 70-80 MPHs.

Mine was just like that when I got it, around 60 mph it would shake your fillings out, I found out the previous owner handmounted those tires and never balanced

Wow, I just finished putting my new jeep back together yesterday and took it out for a spin and the first pot hole i hit at 40 mph I thought I was going to flip the Jeep. I have never experienced death wobble before (never had anything with a solid front axle before). After that didn't have any problems except at 60mph the steering wheel started to shake. At 65 it got pretty bad (bad enough I didn't want to go any faster). I purchased the Jeep 2 weeks ago from a guy who had it sitting for almost a year without moving. I figured the tires developed a flat spot. Is there any way to get rid of the flat spot (other than replacing the tires)?

Drive it, My first drive home in mine it had flat spots,(Sat for 9 months with a bad heater core, he fixed it then sold it) After a 45 min drive it cleared up...Until 65 mph when I found I needed a balance, But the flat spot vibration was at 40-55 mph, Until about 30 miles into the trip it just went away haha

Any motorcycle rider who has to park his/her bike for winter will tell you that weight on the tires will create a flat spot, but depending on the life of your tire, you should be able ot ride it out as long as you're careful (advice for bikers). Keep the air pressure in the sweet spot and you aught to be fine.

Definitely. But that doesn't help with the OP's question about balancing issues.
