ugh. never ending coolant flush
THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANYONE WHO CAN HELP.
So all i wanted was to flush out my coolant.
and replace my hoses before necessary so i could have spares for the rubicon.
but ive just run into problem after problem.
first i found metal flakes in the coolant
figured water pump. so i replaced that. cracked thermostat housing reinstalling. so i replaced that. got it all together drove it around fine.
next day. got up to like 95 outside.
and i drove around and it blew the top radiator hose.
and it broke off the little hump that you clamp it behind... so i figure its time for a new radiator now..
i guess i have to be thankful it didnt wait untill the rubicon to poop out on me.
2 QUESTIONS.
1. why did my over flow tank not prevent this?? i thought when pressure got high it was supposed to spit it into the over flow tank.. ( when i did the flush i filled the overflow tank to the fill line on the side with 50/50 water coolant. and when i looked at it after the hose blew off its down to the add line.. )
2. any suggestions on radiators? maybe ones with metal hose attachments.. as long as its not horribly expensive... or should i just pick one of the cheap ones up off of summit racing

Presume u have a '96.......the overflow bottle doesn't hold pressure. Do u mean split the rad hose? If so, sounds like the rad cap didn't release at 15-16 psi. Rad hose should hold way more than the rad cap's psi rating. With a properly functioning rad cap, coolant level in the bottle should rise a little as the motor heats up and fall a little as the motor cools. Need to always have some coolant in the bottle...if not, air is sucked into the system when the motor cools.

^^^
yes '96
and the hose didnt split.
the part the hose slides over on the radiator has a little hump right before the lip to help hold the hose on i put the clamp behind that and the pressure i guess pulled the hose off and took the little hump with the hose and clamp...
but good info on the over fill bottle.
thanks.
and ill deff replace the rad cap with the rad.
just need to figure out what the cost is gonna be.
any one have any suggestions on high performance radiators for around 200
