While clicked in part time four wheel drive, noticed I had a shake turning right and noticed going left a little too, but reall noticed it backing out of a parking spot with the wheels to the right, got it back in two wheel drive and it is not doing it anymore. Also while going 65mph on the interstate I hit a rough bridge approach and the wheels shoock really bad, came out of it under 45mph, figuring that was the stabilizer, any help would be appreciated.

it doesn't appear to be deathwobble, by the description. it seems like it's a u-joint.
but don't rule out the hub unit either.
check the u-joint by putting the jeep in neutral with ebrake on and block the wheels, and grab the axle shaft on each side of the u-joint, and twist. there should be no play or movement in the joint. it there is, replace it.
as for the wheel bearing/hub, jack that tire up and grab the wheel at 3 and 9 and wiggle the wheel. again, there should be no play in the hub, if there is, replace it.

I will do these checks tomorrow at work. Do they sell manual lock outs for these and would it even be worth it? Seeing as I am new to four wheel drive, did most of these XJ's come with the Dana 35? And if so, would I be better to upgrade to a 44 rather than dump money in it? I want to have a good daily driver yet wheelable. Currently saving up for the RC 4.5 lift, new wheels and some 31's. Figured 31's will give me some room to flex with out hitting the body. Thanks for the input and any other input would be great.

also check to make sure your tires are balanced that will give you shacks too and you have a 91? im pretty sure those came with dana 35 rear but you might have a crystler 8.25 witch is strong if you have the 8.25 keep it and build it the 35 is alil weaker then the 8.25 and dana 44 guys like the 44 because it has a smaller housing witch gives more ground clearance i have an 8.25 and i like it because its alil beefyer and cheaper to build then a 44 but thats my personal preferance and i havent really ever heard anything good about the 35 like i have about the other two rear ends

yeah, don't dump any money into your d35.
grab yourself a d44 from an xj if you can find one. they tend to get pricey, but a nice complete one should be had from around 250 to 350.
i got mine for 175, but that was before they were sought after, and i ended up rebuilding it with a new carrier, but kept the stock gears.

All right guys, I feel like an idiot, I work as a diesel tech at an International Truck dealer and can fix semis all day long but, don't even know my Jeep and what is up with it. So I checked the tires last night thinking that maybe tire pressures were an issue, mind you, the tires looked fine and did not look over inflated or low. That said, the front tires were 23psi different and the rears were 17psi different. Drove home and rig felt different, not a bad different though.
How do know which axles I have? Is there a tag and if so, has it rusted and fell off, lol. Thanks guys it seems I really need help.

front is a d30 and if it has the larger u-joints, is a pretty stout axle.
you could always install the newer shafts, or shafts with an abs tone ring. they have the larger joints.
the smaller 260 joints are weak compared to the larger 297 joints.
the dana 30 is alright to spend a little money on, like maybe alloy shafts or the super30 kit.
it's easier to upgrade the rear axle, than the front.
for the rear, a ford 8.8 is a popular candidate, if an xj44 isn't available.

Cool, thanks for the info again, checked it out this evening and did not see any play in the U-Joint and did not feel any play in the hub. Since it was snowing pretty good, I locked in 4 high and drove it, felt fine, no noise and no steering shake on turns, could it be that the hubs were not locking in all the way before or am I just crazy.
The U-Joints in the front axle look to be pretty large, not sure what size they are but have a buddy that works at an auto parts store and can have him grab the two choices for me to compare.

It was doing it in the first snow that I had it, this time, it is not doing it at all, so far. I pulled it in to full time 4wd and put it lock to lock, no issues, they are locked in and on fresh snow I can roll them all over. My buddy at work suggested that the hubs could have been stiff from lack of use, not to sure about this but taking as I go. So in answer to the previous question, yes it was doing it lock to lock.
