Im trying to replace the u joints on my 94 cherokee awd of course. As im typing this my friend is hammering ona chisel trying to get the piece in between the hub and the dust shield. Its driving me crazy, it just seems like the dust shield is bending and its not actually going out.Is their a better way to pound it out than start at the bolt holes and angle it? or Can anyone explain the method of using the power steering pump to push it out for us?. The U joints havent been changed in 375,000 km so i knew it was going to be hard.

To use the power steering pump method...
Put a drift or an socket extension on the inside of the knuckle. It will just fit between the inside edge of the yoke and side of the knuckle. Start your Jeep, and turn the steering wheel whichever way pushes the knuckle against the extension. Be VERY careful while doing this. The extension can pop out becoming a dangerous projectile.
