Turns over... Wont start

Default Turns over... Wont start

so im driving down the road and my 94 xj split sputtered and died. changed fuel pump filter and ignition coil and still just turns over... i have no spark. put a new pick up coil on and still no spark... 8.2 volts coming into the coil w/ the key on and it drops to around 5 when i try to start it and i also show power to the distributer center but no where else... im lost... please help me

check your crankshaft position sensor same thing happened to me a few years back

I just went through that. These guys know everything. I will watch you fix it with their help. Let us know when you find it.

Look at the 30 amp fuse under the hood.

See if the wire to the 02 sensor is rubbing.

first check for spark ,fuel and injector pulse throwing parts at it will get costly quick unless your rich lol

i have no spark, i have plenty of fuel pressure tho... just put a new pump in it sunday

You can have good fuel pressure with a bad crankshaft position sensor.

Test the crank sensor. It is very common the root cause of a no-spark on the 4.0. Possibly the most common sensor failure on this engine.

if im not mistaken, you have the cap/rotor set up. sorry if you already answered this, but is there spark all the way through? if so youd have spark to the wires and thusly the plugs... so if these are good, then #2 is the CPS. and a less likely guess of the TPS... idk, my .02
