Default Turn on headlights, dash panel dims

So, I installed a lighting harness upgrade. Easy install, seems to work great. I noticed when I turn on the headlights, my dash dims. An obvious power draw. Does the harness, power lead, have to go directly to the battery? I hooked it to the terminal post at the( PDC ). Any ideas?

I always hook the harness power directly to the battery.

No, not an obvious power draw. Possibly a bad ground. Check 'em! Clean 'em!

But Mark makes an excellent point also. The grounds for the relays need to be on a clean and shiny spot free of paint.

I will, recheck my grounds. So will the PDC post also make a difference?

Mine is hooked up at the pdc and I dont have that problem. Mine is a 2000 with the digital odometer and it is designed to dim when the lights are turned on. I dont know if this might be related to your problem somehow.

Well I changed my grounding spots, passenger side to where the negative ground cable goes, and driver to the, radiator support, and no difference. Then I moved the Harness power lead to the battery, and no difference. Not a big deal as everything seems to work fine. I just thought it odd that the dash dims when I turn on the lights. The dash is legible at night, just less bright. btw dash dimmer, is cranked all the way up. Its livable.
