Default Tune up gone bad?

Ok I replaced the valve cover gasket, spark plugs, wiring set, distributor cap, and rotor. Also replaced the oil pressure sensor. Now my jeep is running completely bad, vibrating when I get to 50mph and making a knocking sound.

The mechanic says the jeep needs to adjust to the new sensor and plugs. That after 100 miles everything should run perfect. Is this right? I'm paranoid because before this my jeep was running like a champ.

Thats a load of crap.
Did you do the work or did the 'mechanic' do it? What year and model is your XJ? And what sensor does he mean?

My guess is the wires have not been connected correctly, plugs not tightened...

This is the firing order, and how the leads should look.

I bet the plug wires are not in the correct firing order.

Most likely, however it could be anything if that "mechanic" did the work...OP, take your money and run far away from that guy...

I am almost 100% sure the wires are correct cause he showed me that diagram when connecting them.

then next best bet is timing adjustment due to distributor cap rotation or he messed up the rotor somehow, do you know if all cylinders are getting spark?

EDIT: also to be safe start the car up and spray some starter fluid or carb cleaner around the valve cover to see if maybe the gasket was damaged on installation, if so the engine should have a noticeable change in idle speed when its sprayed near the leak

If I were you I would either take it back and have them fix it right or get your money back. Personally I would get the money back or as much as possible since the mechanic you took it to has No Idea on what he is doing or what he is talking about!!!

Just spoke to mechanic on phone and he is still saying that there is not a problem. That it's normal. WTF!!! Hate having these problems!

Well, lets just say this should be the last time you bring your Jeep to this fellow. Don't think you'll see your money back, maybe try a supervisor, if he's working in a bigger shop (at least you've tried in that case), but otherwise take your loss and get into this yourself and we'll see how we will get this solved.
