Trying to swap a motor from 1990 - 1994 cherokee

Default Trying to swap a motor from 1990 - 1994 cherokee

Im trying to swap a motor out of a jeep cherokee laredo to a jeep cherokee sport. have issues with the bellhousing lining up with transmission. one side will line up but the other side wont. feels like the motor is rocking back in forth on torque converter.... WONDERING IF ITS A STRAIGHT UP SWAP OR IF OTHER THINGS NEED SWAPED ALSO???? CAN ANYONE HELP

Is the 90 a Renix or OBD-I? If its Renix that's the problem, it wont be a direct swap.

Now are the Renix blocks different?

Transmissions are, maybe that's the problem.

I was looking into replacing my BA manual trans out of my Renix, and those aren't direct swaps. Autos probably aren't direct fits either.

BlueXJ knows the Renix setup quite well. Maybe he could help?

Yes, I know. The issue is the 4.0 blocks. As you can see, someone suggested the blocks from a Renix Jeep are different from the later 4.0 blocks.

I don't believe.that to be 100% accurate.

renix will have knock sensor hole dont think ho has it
