Default Is this TRUE?

I heard a while ago that if I redo my main battery wires with thicker wire that it will cause the engine to run smoother and better? I could see this working but is it really that dramatic? Hmm?

Thank you,
Tyler

if you are interested in upgrading your battery wiring, first try cleaning them well, and checking your battery. my cables were pretty worn out, so i replaced them with thicker gauge than OEM, and there was no real improvements or noted gains. like i said, if things are dirty or worn, then clean and replace as needed. if you want a better running, then deff. start basic- fluids, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, check and clean your TB and all components on it (IAC, TPS) be ready to replace gaskets.

No my jeep runs perfect and everything is well maintained, I just do not like the usual jeep jumpy idle. Someone on her said that it helped them but mabey they had electrical issues before (but they did use 0awg wire).

Bigger cables should help starting/cranking but once the engine is running, you should be able to remove the battery and the engine will continue to run just fine. Don't really see how bigger cables would improve the way the engine runs.

Will the engine keep running? I though the distributor less ignition systems needed a battery.

false. the voltage regulator directs some amount of charge to the battery all the time. Battery usually runs the ignition (never all the time, at least I never seen such a thing). When the battery is low the regulator directs 1/2 charge to the ignition, 1/2 to the ignition balances out to the full voltage in the end and the battery is thus charged when almost dead while still running the engine.

Thicker cable/wire allows higher current to flow through, equating to a higher amperage allowed, and more "turning over power" for the starting system, good for cold weather.

Upgrading your ground wires can be a big help if your stock wires aren't in great shape
