Man I remember having this same exact problem. Some frustrating stuff right there. I wish I could remember exactly what I did. Can you turn the nut either way without it doing that? Or is it stuck in one spot?

Try pulling on the drag link with some force in the opposite direction that the nut is screwing off to give it some leverage by catching on something. What I mean is pull downward on the actual drag link while simultaneously trying to unscrew the nut. Pretty sure this is what I did. I just remember it being a lot more difficult than it should have been. Just keep muscling it and it should budge eventually

Man I remember having this same exact problem. Some frustrating stuff right there. Press it down hard, use a bar/pipe. Torch the nut hot to help make it looser. Oh and if you say *** ******* ***** **** **** ***. That helps.

Hahaha ohhh trust i tried saying *** **** ********!!! but it still didnt wanna budge. Atleast im not the only one having this problem. Lol i tried jammin the pickle fork in there to see if the pressure would help but still no beans. Ive tried all the different nuts on the drag link, the pitman arm, the stabilizer, etc... But they are all stubborn. If only i had an impact wrench!

I ended up hammering the back side of the TRE to drive the "stud" back into the hole so there was force on the tapered part of the stud, then I turned slowely to loosen them. If the stud started spinning again, I hammered it back into place to put more pressure on the shaft and tried again.

Slow and steady and they came out.

I feel your pain.

x3, use force against the back of the TRE to jam the taper into the hole

jam the taper into the hole! (like said/\). The fork won't help. 2x4, fence post, pipe. (long lever)

Never tried it but you could heat the (female), press in hard, tap/whack it in, let it cool, (to seize), then again torch the nut hot, press it IN, (with the lever) and try that.

Got a saws-all?

I got a saws all but i dont think there is enought room to get the whole blade into it. Ill give it a try tomorrow. So yall are saying pound the tre back up to get the stud to lock back in?

I agree why not just sawzall it off or use a grinder and cut off wheel? The replacement tre will come with another castle nut.

I had this issue before and was able to cut the nut off with a cut off wheel.

Foster, I screwed up. On a Jeep press UP! (plenty are the other way). Yes jam it IN, tighter. A little pressure from a jack might do. Also you might maybe get the nut to turn by striking it with a chisel while the TRE is being pressed in.

I use a large C-clamp to keep the joint in the hole while I loosen it. Doesn't usually take much pressure.

Go to your favorite parts house and buy a nut splitter.

Put a jack under it, apply some upward pressure, it will stick the tapered bolt in place. Air impact wrenches make it so much easier too.

Jamming the tie rod up onto the bolt/pin/rod thingy worked! It took a bit of trying but it finally came loose! Thank god i had an impact wrench. After alllllllll the trying to get the drag link off i couldnt get the stud for the steering stabilizer loose. I only found one stabilizer that included the stud after 4 different shops.

So then heres my next dilema, the track bar. When i turn the wheel it pivots within the hole at the axle and that doesnt seem right.. Do i need to replace the whole track bar or will new bushings work?
