Default Transmission solenoid issue

I just bought my son a 96 cherokee se automatic. When we bought it the previous owner let us know that it needed to be shifted manually. So I did my research and everything I read pointed to replacing the 3 transmission solenoids.
My son and I replaced the 3 solenoids yesterday and now it won't go into any gear. I had the battery disconnected while we did the job and reconnected it when we finished and put 2qts of fluid back in to get us started. Am I missing a step? Any help would be appreciated.

Transmission fuse in it's own harness under the dash. Did the solenoids test bad? Hopefully not replaced with "E-junk" parts.

I bought the kit from Rockauto.com
The brand of parts is ATP.
I didn't test them. The vehicle has 184k miles on it and it sounds like it's common for these solenoids to go bad. So I decided to just replace them.
I'll try to find the fuse you're talking about.

Not sure if that pic works for you. That's good for the Renix era TCUs. Not sure if your Jeep has the TCU. If the PO was shifting manually, the fuse could have been taken out (if a '96 has one) and that would leave it to shift without the computer activating the solenoids to shift.

Not to sound like a smart **** but, are you sure that 2 qts is all that you needed? I changed mine about two weeks ago and it took more than 2 qts to fill it back up. Mine wouldn't move with 3 qts in it, it took about 5 qts to get it to move and then I topped it off once it got warm after a short test run.

Well I had some success and thanks for all the help.
I checked for an inline fuse and didn't find one.
I was able to locate the TCU after I unscrewed the lower dash pad and pulled it down. It was connected.
I started the jeep up and let it get warm for about 10 minutes. I checked the fluid and it was in the add range. I put another qt in and it would go into gear but slip a lot. I put another qt in for a total of 4 qts added. That did the trick. We took it for a test drive for about 10 miles and it seemed to drive better the farther along we went.
The one thing that was concerning was when we began to drive up our driveway ( it's up hill) the transmission slipped then caught with a strong thud.
I guess that's the next thing to figure out.
Thanks again everyone.

I think I figured out the slipping problem. After reading on one of the forums somewhere that you should use ATF+4 fluid in the AW4 transmission that's what I used.
That is wrong. I dug deeper and found the specs on the tranny and you need to use Dex/Merc fluid. I changed it out and no more slipping. It ran like a normal vehicle should.
