I am about to replace my transmission on my 89 xj, my question is how much should i expect to pay? any help is appreciated

 

around 200 for a used one here. Try to stay in the 87-90 range. If you cant, you will have to get the Tcase too.

 

If talking automatics, the auto recyclers here (they are no longer "scrap" yards) charge 400 - 600 delivered. They do the pull from the vehicle, we install, warrantied but not guaranteed, it has cost us the labour to redo a bad used trans. Rebuilder is 40 min away and will do a same day for 600 - 800, remanufactured by "professionals" name brand trans company runs more that a grand.
