Default transmission question

Automatic 1996 4l. I hear a 'ker chunk' or a bump when driving down the highway whenever I let off the gas, but not all the time. Recently, when a cold snap came through I noticed a slip or the transmission trying to figure out which gear it should go too. I checked the ATF and it was in the normal range, but the color was not red. I plan to take it to a place that can flush the system. At the moment its only a nuisance. Any ideas???

The clunk maybe worn trany or motor mount,as far as the slip or?,I woul avoid the flush and just change the fluid, and add an additive to help with lubrication. For some reason when you flush a trany it ends up with more issues,i do not have any idea why other than some material or dirt clogs the trany and restricts lubrication possibly.
