Default Transmission pan drain plug stripped

Any ideas on how to get that s.o.b. out? All it does is turn, turn, turn but doesnt come out and now its dripping fluid at a pretty steady rate. Id like to try to get it without drilling or removing the pan. Any help is appreciated!

not sure if this would work at all or not as i dont recall how the plug looks. Can you get some vice grips on it and pull the plug out while turning it? Maybe even use a small tube to get some leverage on the vise grips.

I had the same thing happen to me on my 94. I had to drop the pan and while it was off I had someone push down on the bolt while I turned and it still didnt come back out. If there are any other ideas I'm all ears.

Never been there but...if you have the pan down, how about grinding the cap end off and threading the plug in instead of out. Of course you need a new plug, but just a thought.

It,s a good thought considering he will have to change the bolt anyways, you can always just go to picapart and get another pan and be done with it

Around here (central CT) I used to be able to go to a PAP and just wander around grabbing stuff. Now the only local Jeep JY I have here, they pull the part for you (and won't let you anywhere close to the yard) and charge top dollar for everything.

I wish I had an actual PAP around here (sigh)

But back OT, yes, that'd be a good option too. Just go get another pan.

I'm going to picapart this morning, vegas has good ones and they have cherokees all over the place, I'm going to make a price list for the parts they do have and get some sensors and stuff for my womans neon.
