Transmission Issue
Hello All,
I just bought a 1991 2WD Cherokee for my daughter and I have some work to do. This is our first Cherokee so I have some questions. The first thing I need to take care of is the transmission/shifting issue. When I have the fuse in for the auto transmission it will not shift out of what feels like first gear and I cannot manually shift it either. With the fuse removed or the system disabled while in drive it feels like it is starting out in drive and not in first but I can manually shift through the gears. I have a freind that says this may have something to do with a vacuum line to the transmission that is faulty. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

No vacuum lines used on this trans. The tPS (throttle position sensor) could be a factor.

OK...I have replaced the shift solenoids but that was not it. It looks like the PCM is shot and cannot be rebuilt. I need to know if anyone knows where I may be able to find a replacement PCM. This is a CA car so it has to meet the emissions standards. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you mean TCU?
Did you check the TPS?

The mechanic says that it is the power control module. It is sending too much power to all systems. I have adjusted the TPS if that is the one under the hood.
