Default Transmission fluid in coolant

I have a 97 xj with 4.0l. It never gets hot or overheats but the transmission fluid gets into the coolant and I have to flush. Any ideas on how or where the fluid is getting into the coolant and what I can do to stop it.

The tranny fluid cooler is located in the drivers side of the radiator. If tranny fluid is leaking into the motor coolant, most likely motor coolant is also mixing into the tranny fluid......replace the radiator ASAP and drain/change both the tranny fluid and coolant.

Yep, radiator. Problem is when you shut off the motor when it's warm now the coolant is under more pressure than the trans fluid. Drop the transmission pan & flush so you get all the coolant out.

My guess is a 50/50 mix of tranny fluid and coolant in the cooling system is no big deal.....however, a small amount of coolant/water in the tranny would not be a good thing, no?

Water in an auto trans is bad.

Anti-freeze will destroy an automatic transmission in no time at all, the chemicals in the coolant will eat the adhesive on the friction discs in the clutch packs. If you get a few thousand miles out of the transmission after flushing the fluid consider yourself lucky.
